Edited by: Crazy Steve on 21/02/2005 11:37:21 High: 6x800mm/2xheavy nos Mid: Web/2xhardener/1xshield amp/1xxlarge shield boost low: 6xdiag2's
Or the long range version with
6x1400/2xcruise launcher web replaced with cap recharger(pointless I know but tempest doesnt have the cpu to add anything else useful)
Now im guessing u can see the main problem is lack of mwd to get in close but other then that this does work quite well. Anyone else had much luck with this??

But yes it could be quite useful on lvl4 missions or npcing in general but shield tanking really does limit what you can fit cpu wise so the 1400mm setup would probably need named cruise. I've tried armor tanking a tempest for lvl4 missions and it was pathetic at best. |

Edited by: Crazy Steve on 21/02/2005 14:19:25 I understand armor is close range gererally but the tempest cant tank for very long with 1 large and 1 mid rep, at least with the shield tank you end up with around 7000 shield hitpoints and cap which is much like a raven. Plus I dont really see the tempest as a tackler.
Oh and to the other guy, try fitting the above long range setup and I bet you can't with standard gear.

With that above NPC setup, I can tank a 1 Angel Seraphim (1 mil), 2 Angel Warlord (750k) spawn for long enough to kill them all. With good cap skills you can keep the large and the med (tech II) going for ever. If you have picked the correct hardeners, you will find the tanking is quite adequate. Saying all of that, I do have very high skills. BS 5, all relevant gun skills at 5, repair systems 5, all cap skills at 5.
Also, loot is much quicker to pick up with a short range setup!
You mean with cap recharger 2s right, without them its not possible unless u like running out of cap mid fight.

Well, he didn't say he could tank them forever, just until he can kill off a large enough part of the spawn to tank the rest. I would imagine that the warlords die very quickly to BS autocannons (which do a lot of explosive damage).
Spot on. No way I could tank them forever.
I used to use a closerange setup against Sanshas in the tempest which kinda worked ok but the main problem is you need to fit a mwd in order to get close to them which totally gimps the already pathetic cap of the tempest which means your tank also sucks and doesnt last long in a large spawns. I'm guesssing the fact that most angels like closerange might mean you could live without it but not all angels come in at close range so im not sure how your doing that unless ur using a 100mn ab but then it still gonna take you time to cover 25k betweem 2 generals and also used a another mid slot.. So if you using 3 cap2's 2 reps and 3 hardeners then you only have 4 cap mods.. I just dont see how it works..
